Minimize Damage

When our business burned down, my anguish was compounded when I was told that something could have been done to minimize damage.  The building collapsed in on itself and was a total loss.  Had someone insured a higher fire rating, all we would be facing would be building repairs instead of complete reconstruction.  It was explained to me that when buildings are constructed, precautions need to be taken to assure that the steel in the building is fire retardant.  The higher the fire rating, the longer the steel can stand up against the damage from the fire.  The extra time fire rating would have provided would have saved a tremendous amount of money.
