Getting Tested

Millions of employers around the world conduct drug tests before they hire employees as well as after employees have been hired.  The reasoning behind this is simple.  Drugs are bad, and the people who abuse drugs while "on the job" may present more of a liability for that particular employer with regards to productivity and safety.  Would you want someone who uses drugs regularly and might, in fact, be on drugs to operate the plane that you’re getting on to fly home?  How about that bus ticket you just bought?  I didn’t think so.  Drug screening has become a way of life for many employers because they don’t want to (and shouldn’t have to) take the risk of hiring someone who may possibly have an addiction.  Additionally, sometimes people who are are on drugs tend to steal items from the workplace so that they can finance their particular addiction.  In the end, it’s not worth the risk to employers.
