Ayesha and me were very good friends. First time we met in train while going to work. She is a very sweet and charming lady. For me, it was love at first site. But, it took me nearly a month to propose her. I shall never forget as how she blushed when I said the three beautiful words. It took me no time to understand that she was in love with me also. But, I think she was waiting for me to approach. Soon we became very close to each other. We also lived together. But, as our parents learnt about it, they forced us to separate. We tried to convince them but all in vain. Our only ‘crime’ was that we belong to different religion. Both families opposed to each other. Finally the relation broke.
My parents selected a girl for me. Her parents also did the same for her. Life has changed. It was very difficult for both of us to get over a break up. I tried to remain more committed to my wife. After all, it wasn’t her fault. My wife in fact, turned out to be my best friend. After three years of marriage, we had our first child…a baby girl. My wife named her ‘Ayesha’. Interestingly, her birthday fell on the same day as Ayesha, my first love
Ayesha grew up as a beautiful young lady, smart and intelligent. She joined the best University in the state. One day she brought along with her a tall and handsome Youngman called Richard Khan. Ayesha said that they are going steady since past six months. I was elated by the young men’s behaviour. He was happy to know that even my name is Richard.
In this way, our relation developed. One day I told him that I would like to meet his parents. It was bright July afternoon. We requested Richard bring his parents to our home. When I reached, I saw a tall and well built gentleman with his wife. On coming close, I was surprised to see that Richard’s mother was none other than my Ayesha. We both were delighted to meet each other. We were completely choked. My wife and her husband understood the situation. However, we did not tell it to our children. Only thing we had to do was to shower our blessings upon our children.
