The Celebration of Veterans Day
November 11 is the day that many countries commemorate Veterans‘ Day. Some countries like the United Kingdom (UK) call this day Armistice Day or Remembrance Day, signifying the finish of World War I. In the United States, Veteran’s Day is considered both a national and a state holiday. It was announced and signed into law by former US President, Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954 to commemorate and give recognition to the US military servicemen and women who worked and risked their life for the country.
People have different ways of commemorating this holiday for the servicemen and women. Every state organizes various public affairs in honoring the country’s soldiers like parades, giving credit and plaques.
