Types of cherished number plates
People think that you can make up your cherished number plates in the same way as Americans can make up vanity plates. There is a fundamental difference between the US system and the GB system. In the U.K. the registration number must still conform to very strict rules governing the content of the registration and also the spacing of the characters on the number plate. They content must be aligned with one of the four registration number system we have used, i.e. ageless, suffix, prefix and current style. Each defines which characters can be numbers and which can be letters and the spacing between them.
