Driving in Greece

Driving in Greece sounds a bit risky. The use of left hand driving vehicles and lhd 4×4’s is the norm, as is driving on the left side of the road. The legal driving age is 17. Greece has the worst accident rate of all of Europe, per vehicle. Red traffic lights are commonly ignored. Apparently, not many people abide by no parking zones. Most gas stations close at 7PM. Seat belts are only required in the front seats. You are required to carry a warning triangle, first aid kit and fire extinguisher in your vehicle. After learning all of this crazy stuff about driving in Greece, is it any wonder the latter is required?
